2017 marks a momentous year for Donegal … global publication “National Geographic” has named our county “The Coolest Place on the Planet” to visit.
Our gardeners are thrilled to be part of this and are proud to invite you to enjoy their 22 diverse and enticing gardens. Travelling the length and breadth of the county you will discover a long established tradition of ornamental horticulture which began in monastic and castle gardens and continued in cottage and country houses. The gardens described in this brochure are the continuation of that rich tradition.
All of our partner Hotels will be more than pleased to help you plan your itinerary, taking in beautiful gardens while enjoying the breath-taking scenery and pristine air of the Wild Atlantic Way and exploring further inland with, perhaps, a visit one of our partner garden centres or nurseries.
Open days and times are listed with each garden but many owners are happy to open outside of these times, but please do phone ahead to make sure, giving as much notice as possible.
Check out our Facebook page ‘Donegal Garden Trail’ regularly Donegal Garden Trail Facebook for up-dates and photos of what is looking particularly good at any given time.
We ask you to take care as you walk through our gardens as terrain may be uneven so sturdy footwear should be worn. Also an umbrella and wellies at the ready may come in handy! Children are most welcome but should be carefully supervised at all times due to streams, rivers or ponds.
